“We Arrested DJ Wysei, Not DJ Switch” – Police Apologises To DJ Switch, Media Outfits Over Misleading News
The Lagos State Police Command has clarified that it arrested DJ Commissioner Wysei and not DJ Switch as being reported in some media outfits.
Reports had emerged on Thursday that DJ Switch was arrested and taken to the magistrate court in Eti Osa over an alleged complaint of fraud and assault.
However, police are now saying it is a mixup.
SP Benjamin Hundeyin, Police Public Relations Officer, who made the clarification on Thursday, admitted being responsible for the mixup leading to misleading reports.
Hundeyin apologized for the inconveniences caused to the outlets, including Lindaikeji, BBC, TVC and other media outfits, which he had earlier given confirmation.
The command also apologized to DJ Switch.
“There is a mixup from our end. Arrested person is DJ Commissioner Wysei not DJ Switch.
“Apologies for all inconveniences to a few media outfits like Lindaikeji, BBC and TVC that I gave confirmation this morning. Apologies to DJ Switch too. ”
However, Obianuju Catherine Udeh, aka DJ Switch, had debunked reports that she was arrested in Lagos.
Writing on X, DJ Switch said the report was false and the perpetrators intended to tarnish her image.
She also threatened to sue the originators of the fake news.
”I was woken up by a barrage of calls and text this morning. I wondered why because I know today is not my birthday. Only to find that I, have been arrested,” she wrote.
