Popular Fuji musician and “Olori Omooba of Ijebuland,” Wasiu Ayinde Marshal (KWAM1/K1 De Ultimate) has written to Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, alleging he is being wrongfully excluded from the selection process to produce the next Awujale of Ijebuland.
The letter has sparked fresh controversy around the Awujale succession, with the Fusengbuwa ruling house—reportedly next in line to produce the monarch—rejecting KWAM1’s claims and insisting the process is being handled properly.
What KWAM1 alleged in his letter to Abiodun
According to reports, KWAM1’s complaint was communicated through his lawyer, Dr. Wahab Shittu (SAN), in a letter dated January 8, 2026, addressed to the Ogun State Government through Governor Abiodun.
He alleged that the leadership of the Fusengbuwa ruling house issued directives that contradict the Chieftaincy Declaration and Ogun State’s Obas and Chiefs Law, and that these directives could be used to disenfranchise eligible family members—him included—from participating in the nomination process.
One report referenced a family letter dated January 6, 2026, which KWAM1’s camp said contained directives that raised concerns about due process.

KWAM1’s camp urged the state to intervene quickly to protect due process and ensure the integrity of the nomination process, warning that the steps being taken could unlawfully shut out interested and qualified participants.
Ruling house reacts: “arrant nonsense.”
The Fusengbuwa ruling house has pushed back strongly. In a separate report, the vice chairman of the ruling house (identified as Prof. Fassy Yusuf) confirmed receiving the letter but dismissed the allegations, calling them baseless and insisting they do not affect the selection process.
The Guardian also reported a sharper reaction from the ruling house, describing KWAM1’s protest as unnecessary and maintaining that the selection process is not being manipulated against him.
Court angle: earlier injunction attempt and withdrawal
The Nation reported that KWAM1 previously approached the Ogun State High Court in Ijebu-Ode seeking an interim injunction to stop the selection process, but the court declined his request. The report added that he later withdrew the suit.
