Nigerian Army Releases Press Statement Saying No Civilian Was Shot At Lekki Toll Gate

The 81 Division Nigerian Army has released a press statement claiming no civilian was shot at contrary to reports that many were killed at the Lekki-Ikoyi toll gate.

Video and picture evidences circulated on social media the night of the Lekki massacre, however the Acting Deputy Director of 81 Division Army Public Relations has trumped this.

According to Major Osoba Olaniyi, the Lagos State Government called on the division to restore normalcy in the state and the soldiers dispatched their duties ‘within the confines of the Rules of Engagement (ROE) for Internal Security operations’
